Films in sign language (DGS) for the Klassik Stiftung Weimar

In the cultural sector, only very few offers are available in sign language (DGS). These are often rather factual and do not always fit into the corporate design and communication strategy of the institutions.

It is time to try out new approaches and provide attractive films that appeal to sign language users and are also easily shareable via social media.

To this end, the Competence Centre Design for All Germany (EDAD) has conceived a joint project with the Klassik Stiftung Weimar. It was funded by Aktion Mensch and implemented with various actors.

Now the films are ready. The special feature was the dialogue approach. In the films, the sign language actress Anne Zander meets the interpreter Birthe Seidel. The two exchange views about the building, the exhibition, the exhibits and interesting background information.

The lively dialogue is completely subtitled and thus accessible to all. First examples are shown at www.klassik-stiftung.de.

At the same time, short social media clips have been created in which typical and unusual words from the museums are presented in sign language.
Together with the Landesverband der Gehörlosen Thüringen e.V. (LVGLTH), specific invitation films were also created.

For grauwert, it was particularly important in the project that the films could be used both on the Klassikstiftung’s websites and app, but that the material would also work on the KSW’s social media channels to reach more people.
