‘Pilot Inclusion’ – talk at the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn
The project ‘Pilot Inclusion’ is dedicated to the step-by-step development of an inclusive and accessible concept of mediation for exhibitions and museum collections. From 2015 to 2017 flagship models were developed and tested which can be adopted as examples and milestones in other exhibitions. The project, which was initiated by the Bundeskunsthalle, finishes with a symposium in Bonn. As one of the participants, Mathias Knigge will present the work carried out by the consultancy grauwert for the project partners Klassik Stiftung Weimar and the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg. His approach is centred on the following notion: based on the concept of accessibility for people with disabilities and restrictions, benefits are created which are attractive and helpful to all. An integral part of this are workshops moderated by grauwert, which provide a structured look at all dimensions of human diversity, and allow for the involvement of internal and external participants at an early stage in order to avoid mistakes and develop good solutions.
The two-day programme includes practical examples as well as expert talks and a panel discussion. ‘Pilot Inclusion’ is supported by the Beauftragter der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien (Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media), the charity Aktion Mensch and the Kämpgen Stiftung. It takes place on 3 and 4 December 2017.
