Bei Anruf Kultur – Experience exhibitions on the phone
Due to the closure of museums and exhibitions, art lovers currently have no access to paintings, sculptures or historical objects. We would like to change this and have started the project “Bei Anruf Kultur” with the Blinden- und Sehbehindertenverein Hamburg (BSVH – Hamburg Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired) and various Hamburg museums and art mediators launched the project “Bei Anruf Kultur”.
We want to make culture accessible even during the Corona lockdown. For this purpose, the cooperation partners have developed telephone tours. Up to 15 interested people can follow a guided tour on the phone and also ask questions. The offer is currently free of charge, but registration is mandatory.
After registering, participants receive a landline number and a room number for dialling in. During the tour, they are put on mute and can thus listen in peace and quiet, but at the same time do not have to worry if they rustle the blanket or put down the teacup noisily on their couch at home. In between, the participants are called in again to ask questions. The tours last one hour, and a further exchange afterwards is possible.

How it works
Registration is necessary with Melanie Wölwer from the BSVH by email to m.woelwer@bsvh.org and phone (040) 209 404 29.

The museum comes into the living room
Telephone tours could also be interesting for many museums after the Corona era. This kind of art mediation reaches people who cannot come to the museum for various reasons. For example, because they are not mobile or live in a nursing home. For these target groups, the mediation of art and historical topics can be made possible via the telephone. New target groups can be reached for the museums. Interested museums are welcome to contact us to offer guided tours and to communicate on www.BeiAnrufKultur.de.
The guided tours are supported and financed by a project initiated by the competence network EDAD (Design für Alle – Deutschland e.V.) , which aims to make exhibitions and events such as the Long Night of Museums more accessible to blind and visually impaired visitors.
